Completed project information now available

The final version of the complete project is linked below.  Just a reminder that this grade will count as a major test grade.  Please make sure your student is at school and understands the importance of this assignment.

Thank you for sharing your children with me this year.

The Entrepreneur Project - Post 1

Please take a look at the information provided in the link below.  This is parts 1 and 2 of the partner project that your students are working on in class.  The average of all parts will count as a final exam grade for your child.  Please stress to them the importance of doing their best and taking this work seriously.

Variations Test Friday

Attached is a copy of the study guide, the answers to the study guide and a blank graph that you can use to graph your direct and inverse variations because the coordinate planes on the study guide aren't big enough for the equations.  I'll be at school by 8:15 if you have questions.

Good Luck,

Mrs. Wilson

Virtual Manipulatives

Today in class I introduced the students to a website which provides numerous opportunities to use manipulatives to better understand math concepts.  In particular, we examined the Algebra Balance Scales which are located in the 6-8 section under Algebra.  The link to this site is provided for your use below.  Please feel free to comment via email.

Unit 2 Begins!

We began working in Unit 2 today with the introduction and review of exponents and the order of operations.  Much of the work we will do in the next few days will come directly from the textbook in chapter 1.  Soon to follow will be the properties of addition and multiplication as well as the distributive property.  This is our first experience with material that will lead us into simplifying algebraic expressions and solving equations.  Please encourage your child to stay current with homework and to ask for additional help when needed.  To get behind now is to accept defeat.

Watch for the parent letter on Unit 2 to come home Friday as well as a Calendar Project on the Order of Operations.
