This should be the sheet I gave the students!  They may use any substance they choose ( not just borax), but should look on the web before choosing something that may not work.  I will give borax to those who wish to use it. 

Timeline:

Hypothesis and Materials portion of the sheet are due this Thursday

Procedure- we'll do on Friday

Begin Experimentataion this weekend.

Data due October 11, with sheet filled in or on notebook paper. This will be the rough draft.

Final/ formal copy of lab-typed or in ink is due Tuesday, October 16.

Rocks, Rocks and more Rocks!!!!!

Notes and discussion- Monday

Creative writing due Friday-You are a piece of Sedimentary Rock.  Who are you, what do you see and feel, where are you being carried?...You become Metamorphic, Igneous and back to Sedimentary. Be creative while explaining the process you go through in your cycle.

Due Friday in ink or typed.  You may use any format you want-journal, poem, story, etc.

Test over minerals and silent reading- Tuesday

"Is it a Mineral or Not" and "Metaporphic Rocks"- Pairs decide!!!- Wednesday

Workbook on rocks- Thursday

Get out the rocks and show what you've learned- Friday

Online Book Down..Moving Test to Tuesday!!!!!!

It appears Prentice Hall is having a bit of trouble!  Not to worry.  We'll finish in class.  I'll make sure the students have what they need to study for the test, which I'm moving to Tuesday.  Please quiz them over the selected items in their workbooks!!!!!

Mineral Mania due Friday...don't forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday:  Make crystal formation of your choice out of pipe cleaner with borax solution.  Work on workbook- Chapter 2 Minerals  Study what you've completed so far!

Wednesday:Finish workbook- take home for homework if not finished  Study what you've completed so far!  Partner review.

Thursday: Review workbook- Test tomorrow

Friday: After test- silent reading time- to make up for Tuesday . Begin unit on rocks
