Students are reading a nonfiction book from our media center and preparing an oral presentation that will be due on October 1, 2007. They have several options for the oral presentation and should prepare note cards, practice presentation, and perhaps create a visual for their presentation. Students have been reviewing the parts of speech in the ELA6C1.a standard. We will continue working with the parts of speech and soon will be working on sentence diagrams. The diagrams will help students with more difficult concepts; identifying predicate adjectives and predicate nominatives as well as compound and complex sentences will be our goal.
Students will check out a fiction book from the McCleskey Media Center. After reading the book, students will pick one of the two options from the book report hand out. Students may download the hand out from this Blog. This assignment is due September 13, 2007.
