Holiday Concert December 10th!

Our Holiday Concert is next week on Thursday, December 10th. The concert will follow the PSTA meeting which begins at 6:45. The concert should start at 7pm and end at 8:15. Every student in the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Choruses is expected to perform. Please make sure your uniforms are cleaned and ready to wear by this weekend.

The 6th Grade General Music classes are also performing and are expected to be at the concert! Please wear nice dress clothes.

The students will stay after school for rehearsal, have pizza for dinner ($3.50 for pizza or you can bring something from home), change clothes and be ready to perform at 7:00. Attached is the letter that went home. Pizza money can be turned in as late as this Friday 12/4. Download Concert Letter 09

We look forward to performing for you. The students are working hard and I am thrilled with their level of singing. You will be too!!!

General Music Update

6th Grade has been working on music for our upcoming Holiday concert (see Holiday concert Post). They are rehearsing songs, writing additional lyrics, learning accompaniments on the Orff Intruments.

8th Grade has finished the unit on Theory and Composition as well as the Piano unit. Today we began guitars. Many have not finished checking off their point sheets for piano. I am available every morning but Wed at 8:00 for extra help. The students can also come in during their lunch times to be graded on their songs.

7th Grade just began the unit on Nontraditional Instruments after finishing the traditional Components of Music. They will be involved in a lot of creative and unusual forms of making music. Today they watched a 10 minute video on a wind harp. If anyone is interested in learning more or would like to do extra credit, here is the link about the wind harp: http://www.konzak.com/windharp/index.html

For extra credit, put together a comparison of the Great Puget Sound Wind Harp and the St. Louis Wind Harp. Tell how they are similar and how they are different. Give a lot of examples including how they were built, with what materials, where they are located, how the sound is similar and different etc. You may NOT cut and paste information. All has to be in your own words. You can choose any work format you like (poster, diagrams, paragraphs etc.)

8th Grade Chorus Homework.

Students, here is an easier way to get to the links to do the Spring Musical Research homework. It is due THIS FRIDAY! All students must complete it. You will have fun looking at the possibilities. If you find something else that might be good for us, add in information on another sheet. Print as many sheets as you need.
