WEEK OF MARCH 31-APRIL 4

Students began sketching a map of south and east Asia in class on Friday. They will research the government system for each of the countries and create a key to color each country accordingly. This project is a test grade and is due Wednesday, April 2.
In class we have been discussing three wars that impacted Asia: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The Georgia standards being addressed are as follows:

SS7H9.a

Describe the condition of Japan, China, and Korea after World War II.

SS7H9.d

Describe the Korean War; include the reasons for the existence of a North and South Korea.

SS7H9.e

Describe the Vietnam War; include the causes, results, and the reunification of Vietnam

To conclude the unit, there will be a test later in the week.

UPDATE-March 24-28

Welcome to the last 9 weeks of this school year! It's gone so fast.
Students completed and turned in a multi-paragraph "newspaper" report on important events in Chinese history. This will count as a test grade.
This week students will be learning about the events after World War II and how they affected China, Japan, and the Koreas.
They will learn about the causes and effects of the Vietnam and Korean Wars.
They will be comparing the many different government systems in South and East Asia. To help them learn this information, students will be creating a map of the area.

March 3-7

1. All classes turned in 2 column notes on textbook pages 681-686.

2. All classes will complete a summary of the map on page 685.

3. All classes will illustrate and write an explanatory caption for facts regarding the continent of Asia=quiz grade.

4. All classes will create a timeline on Chinese dynasties=test grade. The timeline for 3rd, 5th, & 6th periods is due Monday, March 10. Directions are on an earlier blog.

5. All classes will complete a graphic organizer on Chinese inventions and write an essay on ONE invention of their choice. The essay for 3rd, 5th, & 6th periods is due Friday, March 7.

Target classes have been assigned a time line of China's dynasties, which they began in class on Friday. The rough draft is due Monday, 3/3. The due date is still to be determined.
