Plan on a TEST next Tuesday or Wednesday over these notes and Punnett Squares (see yesterday's post) AS WELL AS mitosis and reproduction (see previous posts for those notes if you need them).
Don't delay... start studying TODAY!
:o)

ENJOY!
Today we learned how to use Punnett Square to predict the traits of offspring from a particular set of parents.
Here is a website that describes it in great detail: http://users.adelphia.net/~lubehawk/BioHELP!/psquare.htm
Please use THIS site as a review of the things you need to know about Punnett Squares. No other notes for PS's will be posted.
There is also a page of practice problems (and answers): http://users.adelphia.net/~lubehawk/BioHELP!/psquprac.htm
ALSO, here is a SUPERB website that details all of our discussions genetics to date. You can just click on the topics at the top- starting with "What is DNA?" and work your way through the others. They have nice, simple animations to review basic genetics. The only one we did not cover is "What is a protein?" You do not need to review that one. http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/units/basics/tour/
I'll post my genetics notes up to Punnett Squares tomorrow.
CRCT Review Quiz on Friday:
cytoplasm, ribosome, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi bodies, vacuole, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast, mitochondria, nucleus.
On VIP 19 for HW tonight draw the plant and animal ceel from text pg 38-39 and label and define the parts
Reproduction and DNA Tests were returned today. Several need to retake. Retakes will be Wed, 3/19 at 8:15 AM with corrections (Q & A) three times each written out and parent signature on test. Retake will be fill in the blank. Students wishing to retake should have gotten a copy of the test today in class.
T-shirt money and ice cream money is due by Friday, 3/21. Don't forget...
Please study as directed in last post.
Here is a short summary of the cell cycle- except it leaves out cytokinesis which happens after telophase. http://biology4kids.com/files/cell2_mitosis.html
Also, a really nice animation of mitosis: http://www.johnkyrk.com/mitosis.html
There will be a quiz Friday over sexual/asexual reproduction and how members of various kingdoms reproduce; as well as the steps in the cell cycle and the structure of DNA. Notes are attached.

THANK YOU for all the oreos! We will do an activity to simulate mitosis tomorrow using these cookies!
If you haven't brought t-shirt/ice cream money in yet, please do that soon. Deadline is 3/21.
Cost is $10

Also, if you can, please bring in a package of Oreo cookies. We will use them for a demonstration in science on Monday. We need two packages per class at least.
We are also collecting money for Guts t-shirts and Ice cream for the last day of school. Cost is $10. Please bring $$ and t-shirt form to your science teacher- we have envelopes for the safe. T-shirts will be painted in early May. Deadline for $$ is March 21.
Thanks very much!
