Tuesday, May 15

Students recieved a study guide to use to prepare for their test over The Diary of Anne Frank tomorrow. We worked on it in class after completing a journal entry that asks students to think how they would feel if their diary was one of the most widely read books in the world.

We also watched a short documentary that shows the real and short life of Anne Frank.

HINT: There will be three essays provided for the test tomorrow. Students will need to choose two.

The options are:

• How have Peter and Anne's relationships changed over the play?
• Why has Anne made such a big impact on the world? Why do people find inspiration from her words?
• Identify an important life lesson you will take away from this unit. Give examples from the research webquest, the play, or the film I'm Still Here.

 

Monday, May 14

Today we finished The Diary of Anne Frank. Students learned the fate of all 8 members of the annex.

They completed the journal prompt asking them if they've ever changed their opinion about someone in the way Peter and Anne changed their opinions.They then analyzed a powerful quote from Mr. Frank.

Friday, May 11

In class today, we read Act II Scene 2. We then compared our class reading to a professional film version made in 1959.

Students created a journal entry about the people they feel comfortable talking to and created a Mother's Day letter.

Today we began Act II of The Diary of Anne Frank.We read Scene 1.

Students completed a journal entry about what they would miss most in hiding.

Wednesday, May 9

Students took the test over Act 1! Most of the grades were great! You can view them on Pinnacle.

Monday and Tuesday May 7 and 8

These two days in class are working class periods.Students have two assignments.Each day, they are to complete one of the assignments. Anything not finished should be completed at home.

Their bio-poem is due Wednesday. The assignment can be found on the back of the character chart which can be downloaded in last Thursday's post.

Thursday and Friday, May 3 and 4

Thursday, students completed a journal entry for a warm up. It can be seen below. Download The New Member

We then read Act 1 Scene 4 from The Diary of Anne Frank.

Students drew names to use for their Character Bio-Poem that are due on next Wednesday, May 9! The directions can be seen on the back of each student's character chart. Download DOAF Character Chart

We viewed the film version of scene 4 and compared it to the play. 

Whew. What a busy day!

 

On Friday, we completed reading Act 1. Students were assigned the questions at the end of the Act to answer. They were allowed to skip numbers 5 and 7.

A reward for those of you who check the blog... Numbers 4 and 8 will appear as essays on your upcoming test over Act 1! Review those and be prepared to write about them! :)

Wednesday, May 2

Today we took our quiz over Act 1 Scenes 1-3 and the Webquest. Students who were absent need to make an appoinment to make it up ASAP!

Overall, the grades were GREAT! Keep up the good work, guys!

Tuesday, May 1st

HAPPY MAY!The countdown is officially on.

Today we finished Act 1 Scene 3. This completes the portion of the play that students will be quizzed over tomorrow.

Monday April 30

We had another journal entry today. This asked students to relate to a quotation from the play.We then read The first half of Act 1 Scene 3.

It was announced that there would be a quiz over Act 1 Scenes 1-3 and the Webquest on WEDNESDAY! The first ten journal entries will be taken up then as welll.
