Feb 21-29

Students are taking a short quiz today  on one formula(volume of a cylinder). Tomorrow we will start surface area of a cylinder, then go on to volume of a cone and rectangular pyramid. Next week we will review all formulas with a study guide, then the students will have a unit test on Tuesday, Feb 28. The unit test is 20 multiple choice problems, and the students are allowed to use all the formulas given on a formula sheet.

Feb 9-24-Unit 8 Geometric Formulas

Yesterday math 6 and Math 6/7 started unit 8 on geometric formulas. The volume and surface area formulas of rectangular prisms are given to the students, along with the length,width,and height of the prism. The students have to "plug" in the numbers and work the formulas step by step to get the solutions.  Many students have trouble, because they do not want to work them step by step.

Next week we will cover the volume and surface area of the cylinder, and the students will be given these formulas.  The rest of the unit covers volume of the rectangular pyramid and the cone.  The unit test will follow after we have completed these 6 formulas.
