Memoir - an account of the personal experiences of an author

Language Arts students should complete the first draft of their memoir tonight.  Tomorrow we will begin revising for transitions, figurative language, and magic 3's.

Final published memoir is due Wednesday, September 12.  A typed draft is due on Tuesday, September 11 for a final edit.

We have spent the last week reviewing the basics of sentence diagramming and types of pronouns.  Our pronoun quiz will be on Thursday, August 30.  Use your two-column notes to study for the quiz.  I am looking forward to hearing your topic selections for your memoir.  We will be following the steps of the writing process to complete your memoir.  Remember you will want to give your very best effort to this first major grade of this quarter.

Tomorrow language arts students will attend a media center orientation session with Mr. Wofford and Mrs. Souter.  Students will also be given an opportunity to check out books during this time.  We will begin our silent reading rotation on Thursday.  Students should plan on having a book for silent reading with them at all times.

We have just completed a quick review of sentence diagramming by completing pages 189-196 in the workbooks.

First Week 2007-2008

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my blog for the 2007-2008 school year.  My goal is to use this blog to communicate with students and parents regularly about happenings in advanced content language arts classes.  I will be giving a brief summary of the day's agenda and reminders of homework assignments.  We have had a smooth transition into the first week of school.  Our notebooks are organized, we have completed our first DGP (Daily Grammar Practice), and we have a clear understanding of the expectations for this class.  The "I Am" poetry assignment is due on Tuesday.  Please follow the directions on the handout.  Also, finish your collage for your notebook if you did not on Friday.  Have a restful weekend.
