Tuesday

How can you observe the physical properties of matter? We were able to complete a lab and also have a snack today as we observed the physical properties of a "Twizzler". Hopefully we all have a better understanding of the physical properties of matter and both quantitative and qualitative observations.

Monday

What are the physical properties of matter? We are stepping back to examine the scientific view of the nature of matter and distinguish between atoms and molecules. We completed a pre-lab activity today and will have a lab tomorrow concerning the properties of matter.

Thursday

Sorry it has been so long, we've had quite a bit going on. We are finishing up with simple machines this week and will be moving into some of the chemistry of physical science next week. Stay tuned. Report cards will be sent home Monday and I hope everyone did well but if you didn't lets work on some strategies to improve for next nine weeks.

Friday

Testing is over for now and I know everyone is relieved and we can get back to our routine. We are finishing up our study about Newton and his three Laws of Motion and we can plan on a test over the subject matter on Tuesday, 10/9. Make sure you study your quiz to prepare for the test. Have a great weekend!

Wednesday

We are currently investigating the relationship between force, mass and the motion of objects in terms of gravity, inertia and friction. We are doing this through various labs dealing with inertia and friction. We will continue in this area until early next week.

We are really stressing standards this year so I wanted to give you a link to the state standards. You can find information for all grades and subject areas at www.georgiastandards.org . This should give you a good feel for what our focus will be this year!

Monday

We are in the middle of ITBS testing but we will continue to work on Newton and his three laws of motion. Students are receiving information so that they can access the science textbook online if they would like. This is a great benefit and allows students to leave their textbook at school if they wish. The instructions follow:

1. Go to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com

2. Click "register"

3. On the first screen, type the class access code in the access code field.
