It's a Wonderful Monday!

7th Grade reviewed the vocabulary and methods of using a database and are eagerly awaiting Tuesday's test over the same.  7th also did a timed writing to get an estimation of their real world typing speed.  You may ask your child how they performed.

8th Grade is enjoying learning about using a checkbook, and how to work with the resulting bank statement.  This exercise started last week, but was shelved to allow them maximum focus on their testing.  We will resume today.

6th Grade is having fun learning about databases too.  They are creating a phone book with their info and using it to sort and select records.

It's Friday!

This has been a short week for me by one day, as Monday I thought I had the flu or a spider bite.  Thankfully the poor feeling eased away and all is well.

Upcomming for Next Week

8th Graders will begin the Checking exercise on Monday.  Be sure to bring pencils or pens to do the written work.

6th Graders will start to explore Microsoft Excel.  A favorite exercise is to create a phone book styled data base.

A little history.  The past two weeks have seen the 7th and 8th graders working in Excel.  There is a small spreadsheet that reflects items sold at the fair.  They are learning about using equations and cell addresses.  The "SUM" range command is the main topic.  We have also been showing how cells interconnect via the cell addresses.

Progress reports have been issued. If you feel that your conduct or academic grade should be higher, you have 4 more weeks to work harder and demonstrate proper classroom behavior.

Thank you for all of your good, hard work so far this year.

Starting to Blog in Business

Welcome to the Business class Blog!

Not to be left off the web-o-sphere's manic desire for more content and conversation, I have decided to contribute to the excess of human verbage.  Hooray.  Someday when there is no blog post for the day, I hope you take a moment to worry about me and wonder, "Is Mr. Barnard OK?"

Seriously, each of the classes constantly do a variety of activites, even though they are often centered around keyboarding skills.  I hope to keep my customers in the know with the topics and activites the students are pursuing.

Occasionally I hope to add personal information for the entertainment and enlightenment of all, just as soon as I learn how to add pics to the blog.
