1. I-respond (or paper copy -- just depends) comprehension check. Those missing 2 or fewer questions completing GA’s Redemption Years: Detox/Supplement Label Creation Task. Those missing more than 2, complete study notecard assignment. (1st will do both parts on Friday; 7th per will pick up w/ teacher/peer feedback on rough drafts )

GA’s Redemption Years: Detox/Supplement Label Creation Task -- DIRECTIONS: 1.) Choose 1 person/event from our Redemption organizer to create a 2-sided label for a new and exciting detox/supplement meant to cure Georgia’s woes during the Redemption Years.

Remember to make your labels it eye-catching, appealing, and easy to understand!

2.) You will use the provided printer paper. Front side of paper = front label on the “pill pack.” Back side of paper = back label on “pill pack.”

3.) Required elements (FRONT):

1. Inventive name for your detox/supplement pack
2. Slogan for your pill pack
3. At least 1 image – hand-drawn or clip art

4.) Required elements (BACK):

1. What pill pack will get rid of in Georgia
2. What pill pack will add back in to supplement Georgia

**NOTE: You may include fun extras like ingredients list, side effect warnings, etc. HAVE FUN WITH IT!

Study notecards assignment - DIRECTIONS:

 1.) List out names of people and events from reading onto  the front side of notecards

2.) Using all info. from reading and organizer, create study notecards of who these people/events were,  how they would detox GA, and what they wanted to supplement GA with (add back in) to make GA more prosperous.

3.) Lastly, create a 10 question quiz on people/events from your notecards. There should at least 1 question for each person/event. You can use ONLY 1 true/false, and the rest can be multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and short answer response.

DIRECTIONS: Please choose one of the following activities to complete as an individual or in pairs.

Option 1 (PAIRED):

Imagine that you are African American or poor White sharecroppers who have decided to protest the sharecropping/ tenant farming system. As a pair, create two - three protest signs detailing the drawbacks to the sharecropping system.

Option 2 (INDIVIDUAL):

Imagine you are African American or poor White sharecroppers talking with visiting northern relatives. Write a brief, one-page monologue on the drawbacks to the sharecropping system.

Option 3 (PAIRED OR INDIVIDUAL):

List the drawbacks of the sharecropping system onto a sheet of notebook paper. Then, on the backside of the paper, develop a Reconstruction agricultural plan that would provide planters with labor while also providing African Americans and poor Whites with land and supplies. Then, realistically evaluate your plan, given conditions in the South during Reconstruction. Finally, list at least 3 pros of your plan and 3 potential drawbacks of your plan.
