ATTENTION PARENTS AND STUDENTS,
Many of you HAVE NOT taken advantage of registering on quizstar yet, and although I told you that you could wait until Monday (as in Monday of this week -- the beginning of ice armageddon 2011) to take your first quiz online, I am a bit worried that only 18 students out of nearly 150 that I teach have attempted the quiz.
A couple of key things to keep in mind before you begin the quiz:
1.) You must be registered on quizstar and you must be registered for the correct class. Please DO NOTregister for period 3 if you are in period 2 for example.
2.) Each student is given 2 attempts at the quiz before scores are sent to me. I did this to try to give you a little flexibility as we start this new adventure together. However, after the 2nd attempt, you are blocked from any additional chances.
3.) It appears that once you look at a quiz, it counts as an attempt. So, NO looking at the quiz and then deciding I don't have the time for it....UNLESS you don't mind that "sneak peak" counting as 1 of your 2 total attempts.
4.) The answers to each question are clearly stated on the mint.org site. However, you must read what I ask you to read on each of the questions, and make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Those who have done so have been making As or Bs.
**In the future, I (or my supply) may simply given you paper copies of CRCT study guide handouts with info. from our standards on them (like CRCT readings), and then you would be responsible for going to quizstar to answer questions about those reading. I might have over-estimated students' ability to navigate several diffierent tabs on one website in order to answer quiz questions on quizstar. It might prove too complicated for some...
We will re-evaluate once we are all back in school together again, but please do not take advantage of my flexibility and desire to find a proper solution. Register. Take the quiz. Read what is required and do your best. No excuses. Then, we talk and figure it all out.
Hope you are enjoying your down time. We will hit the ground running the next time I see you, and sorry but...you can expect nightly HW for quite sometime folks! : ) You've been playing hard; now its time to work hard.
