STANDARDS ADDRESSED: SS8H5.a - Explain the establishment of the University of Georgia, Louisville, and the spread of Baptist and Methodist churches. SS8H5.c - Explain how technological developments, including the cotton gin and railroads, had an impact on Georgia's growth.

1.) Analyze concepts and take notes on "Progress and Change Come to GA" organizer: the invention of the cotton gin, the building of railroads in GA, the establishment of UGA, and the spread of Methodist and Baptist churches in GA. 1.) Wrap up on inquiry activity on Land Allocation in Georgia:

      A.) Discuss land lottery system and answer questions 3-5 on Land Lottery organizer page (3rd way land was given out in GA)

      B.) Discuss/review Land Lottery simulation and exit ticket activity.

2.) Begin taking notes on "Progress and Change Come to GA" organizer on the establishment of UGA and the spread of Methodist and Baptist churches in GA. See 12.03.10 for powerpoint.

HW - 

Finish taking notes on "Progress and Change Come to GA" organizer by reading p.180, 181-182 (FOCUS MAJORITY OF NOTE-TAKING ON RAILROADS) in textbook and taking bullet notes on Eli Whitney's creation of the cotton gin and the growth of transportation (MOST IMPORTANTLY - RAILROADS) in the early 1800s. Minimum of 8 bullet points per section on organizer.
