1. Discuss and take notes on 1st cause for the American Civil War: SLAVERY. NOTE: Place "S" info. bullets under your box for "South" and  place "N" info. bullets under your box for "North". 1. Rap the "Antebellum" Rap and begin discussing/analyzing key ideas discussed in rap (FOCUS: Stanzas 4-5). Download Antebellum (Vanilla Ice) 2010. Go to www.grooveshark.com with PARENT PERMISSION and search "Ice, Ice Baby" to get background music for rap.

2.) 1.) Read p. 195-197 (STOP before section entitled "Indian Removal"). Discuss the following key questions: 1.) What did Creek Indians do to show their dislike of white settlers in GA in the late 1700s /early 1800s? 2.) Who was Alexander McGillivray, and what role did he play in the creation of the Treaty of New York; 3.) What did the Treaty of New York require that the Creek give up, and what did they get according to the Treaty of New York? 4.) Who fought against who in the War of 1812? 5.)Who were the Red Stick Creek Indians, and how were they different from the White Stick Creek Indians? 6.) Why did the Red Stick Creek want to fight with the British against the US? 7.) What was the Fort Mims Massacre all about? 8.) What was the Battle of Horseshoe Bend all about, and what was the outcome of that battle? 9.) Because of the Red Sticks defeat in the war of 1812, the Creeks had to give up land in what area/region of GA? NOTE: YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS IF YOU WERE IN CLASS OR IF YOU WERE ABSENT.
