Week of Nov 29-Dec 3

This week in Reading, we will be working in the computer lab every day. Monday and Friday are My Skills Tutor days, and Tuesday-Thursday, students will be working on an assignment that I have posted in our Blackboard classroom. Blackboard is a web-based learning environment that I will be using to supplement face to face interactions with my students.

In Language Arts, students will work on My Skills Tutor Monday and Friday, and Tuesday-Thursday, we will practice writing a cause and effect essay.

 

Week of Nov 8-12

  
Monday and Friday of this week, we will work on My Skills Tutor assignments. KUDOS to my Language Arts students--you are doing a fantastic job with the Language assignments! Reading students--I KNOW those assignments are challenging, but they are great practice. Try your best each and every time, and never hesitate to ask questions!

In Reading Tues-Thursday, we will read non-fiction selections, and answer related comprehension questions.

In Language Arts Tues-Thursday, we will practice writing a descriptive essay; this is the second type of expository genre we will practice writing.

Here is the prompt students will write to:

Some people feel that the public school system does not adequately prepare students for the real world.

Identify one improvement you think schools need to make in order to better prepare students for life after high school.

Write a letter to the school board in which you describe this improvement and explain why it is needed.
