Week 12: October 31-November 4

This week, we will begin a 25-lesson program called REWARDS. This specialized reading program will help students pronounce multi-syllabic words, and gain confidence in their reading ability.  I am very excited about this, and I look forward to the results my students will achieve!

Week 7: September 26-September 30

 
This week in Reading, the students took a quiz on words 11-20 of the "100 Words". They will begin taking notes on the next set of ten, 21-30. 

In Language Arts, we are reading/listening to Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. The short version is in our literature book, but I have purchased copies of the entire book so we can really "get into" this remarkable story.

HIGHLIGHTS:

This week in Language Arts we reviewed the steps of the writing process, set up our Interactive Notebooks, and began our narrative essay.

In Reading, we filled out Interest-A-Lyzers, began "100 Words You Should Know Before Going to High School", and took Cornell notes on Georgia Studies vocabulary.

Week 1: August 15-19

Welcome back to school! Eighth Grade is very exciting, and we are going to have an awesome year! I taught many of this years' eighth graders as sixth graders: I am enjoying working with them again :-)
